I have a still photo from the footage dated 1944 on the back and Roy had said that it was given to him by the March of Time Newsreel people. I knew the newsreels had to be archived somewhere so I just googled March of Time. I found out that HBO owns the rights to all the newsreels but their site wasn't very helpful. The next site on google was Thoughtequity.com after a couple entries on their site search engine some clips came up from Guam "1944" I knew that had to be the newsreel. But, I really didn't expect to find the footage so fast if at all. I knew they filmed him but I thought maybe he had been edited out, because I never heard anyone say they had seen it before. Well, surprise! There he was larger than life. In the 1940's March of TIme newsreels were shown in almost every movie theatre across the country so Grandpa Shepard was seen by millions of people in his first and only appearance on the "Silver Screen".
